Protecting life within Findhorn Bay and its approaches

Personal Equipment

Drysuits

The MIRO Drysuits Crewsavers’ Breathable Hyperdry suits which afford the crew year round protection.

The suits are front entry and are fitted with neoprene seals. The suits also have a high collar which along with the helmets help keep crew warm and dry.

Lifejackets

The MIRO Lifejackets are, Crewfit 275N Self-inflating Jackets made by Crewsaver.

They are activated by water pressure meaning that if a crew member were to fall overboard, they would be activated automatically by the pressure of the water. The pressure activation prevents accidental inflation caused by spray.

The jackets are also fitted with thigh straps and a harness allowing crew to attach themselves to other vessels should the need arise. In addition, the jackets are also fitted with a detachable spray hood for use in emergencies.

Helmets

For added safety, comfort and ease of communication, all MIRO crew wear Communica Delta+ helmets when on the boat. These connect directly to our handheld VHF radios which can be controlled using the button on the side of the helmet

Radios

Each member of crew has a personal VHF radio for communication, for this purpose, we use the ICOM IC-M71
